Presentation: American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 .gif)
On September 8, 2009 the Board of Commissioners (BOC) approved a resolution designating certain areas of Cobb County as recovery zones as provided under the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) – Build America Bonds program.
Recovery zones are areas that can be designated by local governments like Cobb County who may have areas with significant poverty, unemployment, high rates of foreclosed homes, exhibit other signs of general distress, are located in a federal empowerment zone/renewal communities, or in communities negatively impacted by a military base closure. Recovery Zone Facility Bonds (RZFBs) are tax-exempt bonds that can be used for most private use property with some exceptions.
Based on the criteria provided for establishing recovery zone areas, it has been determined that there are areas of Cobb County that would qualify based on significant poverty and high rates of foreclosed homes |
